Galloping Gobbler 2008 Results

The Thanksgiving Day Galloping Gobbler 4 Miler topped 1,000 participants. The weather was crisp and sunny as runners and walkers negotiated the course from the campus of the University of St. Francis and back.

The short hills of the historic Lindenwood Cemetery provided a challenge to the runners. Casey Shafer of Fort Wayne was the first place finisher; Kansas Jayhawk runner Sam Bird was second; and, Ian Thomas was third.

Crystal Martinez was the first place women's finisher; Ashley Ade reprised her second place showing from 2007, and last year's women's winner Beth Herndon was third.

Casey Shafer is closely connected to the race. He designed the Galloping Gobbler t-shirt. Second place finisher Sam Bird's mother, JoAnn Bird, is the owner of Running Around Screen Printing and she printed the t-shirt.

There will be more photographs posted later.
